The first #midlifetop10Ten Women Who Inspire Midlife Womenwas so well received that I’ve decided to do top ten lists in different areas for midlife women. Here I spotlight, in my opinion, the top ten valuable podcasts for midlife women.

I will be perfectly frank (as only a native New Yorker can be). I only know these women through their social media, blogs, books, podcasts, etc. Nevertheless, their presence, their work, and their lives inspire me. We have never met in person, yet I feel I know them, perhaps better than some family members, because they share their life, their time, their work, their talent, their art, and continue to build communities for their fellow woman. Please know this: Never think you, or your work doesn’t matter. It does. Someone is hearing your message. Admiring you. Being inspired by you. So please, continue being you.

You do not make changes by changing people. You lead by example and those who are ready will rise. ~ CinDiLo

1. Betty Mabel, Alberta, Canada, is the host of  ‘I Just Need To Talk About This.’ Podcast. Armed with her phone, address book, and inquiring mind, she, and her guests will regale you with stories from their past, unsolicited advice, and more laughs than you thought possible.

Her favorite episode is Season 2, Episode 1 where she and Darcey talk about being bisexual/queer women.

Betty has a soft spot for middle aged, or as she likes to call it, goddess-aged women (I just LOVE that!) to land and get loved up, laughed up, be seen, and heard. Join the sisterhood weekly for your dose of  sister-friend time. Who knows, the next person she may be calling is YOU! Listening to the chat is like hanging with your best girlfriends. 2. Gianna Miceli, of New York, New York is the host of the Gianna Miceli Show Podcast. Gianna shows women how to get and stay Sexy & Fabulous over age 40, and go through menopause all naturally! Happy, healthy, & hot!

She says her favorite episode is 5 Things Women Should Know About How to Lose Weight  not only because she unleashes on the nonsense and propaganda that the medical establishment and pharmaceutical reps tell doctors to tell women that is so beyond false, misleading, totally not helpful, and she dares to say…..criminal. Her IG: @msgiannamiceli

3. Suzy Rosenstein, of Toronto, Canada, is Podcaster for Women In The Middlie Podcast

Women in the Middle: Loving Life after 50 is for midlife women who want an upbeat perspective, mindfulness skills and tools to stop wasting valuable time, do midlife on purpose and get excited about your life again.

Suzy says her favorite episode is The Secret to Finding Your Midlife Passion Project because so many amazing “women in the middle” aren’t clear on how to find their passion; I’ve gotten so much joy out of having a passion to focus on in my life and it makes me so sad to think about women who don’t have this same opportunity yet. It’s super important too because it can ground your “why” and also provide a ton of happiness and fulfillment, something so many of us are searching for in midlife. Doing a little “regret-proofing” in this area can help you avoid a regret later in life and provide a lot more fun in the process!  Her IG: @midlifecoach4women

FUN FACT: I had the pleasure of being a guest on Suzy’s podcast in 2019, where we discussed turning 50, how your childhood interests can help you find midlife purpose, the importance of self-care, and making a big move to have a better quality of life. Listen to it here: Episode 110: Turning 50 with Cindy Lopez

4. Marie Perrigo, Julie King, Nashville, TN and Mindy Sillyman, Philadelphia, PA, are the women who host midlifematterspodcast.com

This trio discusses everything from parenting teens to aging gracefully, Midlife Matters covers all the topics keeping women in the middle years up at night!

Their favorite episode is the first in a happiness series we started in October 2019 and will continue on the first Wednesday of each month through June 2020. They’re doing one chapter a month of best selling author Gretchen Rubin’s book, Happier at Home. The first episode in that series is Episode 49, Happiness and Possessions talking about possessions and the effect they have on our happiness. Each month they tackle the way a new topic relates to happiness such as parenting, marriage, time and our ourselves. Their IG: @midlifematterspodcast

5. Liz Applegate, Dallas, Texas, U.S.A., is host of the Midlife Schmidlife Podcast   The podcast can be found on Apple, Tune-In, Stitcher, Spotify and all other places where podcasts can be found.

Midlife Schmidlife helps women over the age of 40 create a life they love.

Liz couldn’t just pick one favorite episode, so here are her two favorites: Her first was early on, in Episode 5, with Gretchen McNeely who came out as gay in her early 40’s. It was honest and raw and she says she stumbled over her words and her lack of knowledge about the LBTQI Community. But Gretchen was so open and Liz felt it was a conversation that she was proud of.

Her second favorite was this past episode where amid the global pandemic she felt a desire to speak into a collective space of where we are and issues that may be coming up for for all of us in this critical time during Covid-19. So she’s launched a series, “Now More Than Ever” and her first episode is a discussion around boundaries with her guest, Dorena Kohrs, a Feng Shui Master and energy clearer.

Liz says future topics will include connection, job search, career changes, health & wellness, and more – all under the umbrella that this place in history is shining a spotlight on areas of our lives we can change for the better. This is a great way to sort out our feelings and our future amid Covid-19. Her IG: @lizapplegate

6. Valerie Albarda, Cramerton, North Carolina, U.S.A., is the host of Midlife A Go-Go

Midlife-A-GoGo meets women where they live — in the second spring of life — and has candid discussions on the ups, the downs and everything in between of midlife.

Her favorite episode: Finding Her Voice and Overcoming Obstacles with Karen DeBonis. On some level, Val says she can identify with Karen being afraid to use her voice and stand up for herself growing up. I can so relate that it seems easier to stand up for others before ourselves. Her love for her son overrode her fear of speaking up; when she did speak up, it opened up a whole new world for her.

7. Michelle Newman, of Frederick, Maryland, U.S.A., is the host of  The New Mid Podcast

The New Mid is a frank, funny look at women in midlife and their day-to day-struggles and successes, as well as the big stuff – questions about meaning, fulfillment and happiness.

Michelle says “asking me to pick one favorite episode is like asking me to pick my favorite child! Each new episode is my best!” I can definitely relate to that, I feel that as a writer all of the time.  She recently interviewed some medical specialists about the Coronavirus to get the “truth” about what’s going on and what information we need to know.

So many people from her community reached out to her to express how much they appreciated the episode about social media or how they went out and found an Integrative Medical Doctor or got tested for food sensitivities.

Michelle’s intent, with every episode, is to give friendly advice from experts to make life a little easier. We’re redefining what it means to be in midlife. Some midlifers, like Michelle, have young children. Others are empty nesters or have never been married. Even though it might seem like we’re at different points with family and careers, we’re all very much the same when it comes to night sweats, weight gain, and body aches we didn’t have before. The whole reason she created this show was to help people however she can to live an abundant second half! Her IG: @thenewmid

8. Lori Massicot, Southern California, U.S.A., is host to To 50 and Beyond a podcast which celebrates women over 40. It’s where wellness, sobriety, and empowerment meet.

Lori has so many episodes she loves, she said it’s hard to pick a favorite. The first that comes to mind is Episode #112 ‘No Longer Dying to Be Somebody’ with John Siddique, who died and came back to life. It hits so many wonderful, uplifting topics for women over 40. John literally died for five minutes and came back with a new appreciation for life without trying to be someone who he is not.

Another favorite episode is Episode #106, ‘What It Means to Live a Sober Lifestyle’ and has been very popular as she discusses how to make a sober lifestyle work for you and how to decide if sobriety is something you would like to explore!

Catch new episodes of ‘To 50 and Beyond’ every Saturday and Tuesday.

9. Coach Christine, Philadelphia Area, PA, U.S.A., is the host of The Empty Nest Coach Podcast

The podcast is her gift to mothers of high school students (and beyond) who are freaking out about the empty nest ahead: my goal is to take my listeners from freaking out to feeling freaking awesome!

Coach Christine says her favorite episode would have to be Episode #29 “Christine, what will I do with my time, and what should I do next?”  She  explains “While I’ve grown incredibly as a podcaster and as a human since that episode’s airing, it is my favorite because it is was the first episode where I decided to go all-in on using analogies and concepts more in-depth than I had up until that moment. The idea of simmering that came out of that episode is one I use daily now, and it has been the basis of everything I’ve done since. Her IG: @emptynestcoach ? 10. Dr.Shannon Gulbranson, New York, U.S.A., is a podcaster and Healing Life Coach who followed her heart’s desire of living in NYC. She moved all on her own, far away from “home” in the Midwest. I am not sure how I found her podcast, but she immediately hooked me with her breakdown of words. Yes, words. I love words and, thus, I love Dr. Shannon’s podcast. She is the bestselling author of Date Yourself Well (I have this book, loved it and shared it with a friend) Dr. Shannon Knows, and It’s No Secret. She inspires Midlife women by offering common sense solutions to the monkey-mind we have going on in our head all day (why DO we do that, anyway?). Her non-lengthy, daily podcast is full of real information, inspiration, and strategies to find joy and healing in every day – one SIP ON LIFE at a time. Peace in MidlifeAuthor’s Notes: Learning about these women who took the leap believing in themselves, serving fellow women, and taking the nose dive into some not so easy technology, I realize they are leaders and healers. By working with women throughout my career of all ages and in all stages of life, I’ve discovered that women heal themselves by healing others as well as in healing others, they heal themselves. Either way, when women share their gifts with us, they serve their own hearts as well. ~ CinDiLo
